Keiji Minato was born in the south of Osaka Prefecture, Japan in 1973 and grew up there catching crayfish (we don't eat them, though) and digging up fossils of trilobites (not many for all the efforts). Now he's been living in Kyoto for more than a decade, hating its sweltering summer and cold damp winter and loving its cozy life and beautiful riverbanks. He studies literatures in English, mainly, U.S. and Australian contemporary poetry. His favorite haiku poets are K i Nagata, Kan'ichi Abe and Jack Kerouac. He plays the guitar and the ukulele but never gets better. He also writes free verse and published a book of poetry, Garasu no me / Nuno no hifu [Glass Eyes / Cloth Skin], in 2004.
