Born in 1925, Zagreb, Croatia. In 1951,he graduated Civil Engineering. In 1956, D. Sc. in Mathematics at the University of Zaagreb. Full Professor at the same university, retired in 1990. For his research, he visited many countries including Japan, Australia, USA, Israel, Russia, etc. Currently Professor emeritus at the University of Zagreb.

Full Member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Member of the Union of Croatian Writers, the Croatian P.E.N. Club, etc. Honorary President of the Association of Croatian Haiku Poets, honorary member of the German Haiku Association, Advisor of the World Haiku Association.

Awards: International Le prix CIDALC 1977. Order of the Sacred Treasure of Japanese Government 1983. State prize of the Republic of Croatia for Life Work in Science 2003, etc.
In 1981, he obtained a six month fellowship from the Japan Foundation.

Published 40 scientific papers in Mathematical journals in Austria, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Czechoslowakia, Poland., Portugal, Australia, USA.
Published 17 books on Mathematics, 12 on Japanology and 5 literary works, among them a collection of his haiku in Croatian and English, and a book of his haibun in Croatian, English & German.
