Mrs. Anica Gecic first saw her beloved Zagreb in 1931. She graduated in physics from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Zagreb. She worked as a teacher on a Secondary School and College.

First, she published her poems in the periodical Djecja umjetnost (Children's Art) in 1943. She published following collections of haiku poetry: Odsjaj u ocima (Reflection in the Eyes ), Zagreb, 1993; Narucje zivota (Embrace of Life), Zagreb, 1994; Poklon zvijezdama/Gift to the Stars, Samobor 1995; Grad na dlanu/Town in Full View, Samobor, 1997, and Vedre staze/Cheerful Trails, Zagreb, 2001.

She publishes her haiku in Croatian and foreign periodicals, papers and anthologies: Vrabac/Sparrow (Samobor), Jutro poezije (Zagreb), Skolske novine (Zagreb), Nasa rijec (Zagreb), Haiku Zbornik (Ludbreg), Haiku (Zagreb), Samoborski haiku susreti (Samobor), Haiku Meeting Collection (Klostar Ivanic), Haiku Day Dubravko Ivancan (Krapina), Haiku Meeting ( Japan), KO (Japan), Blithe Spirit (UK), Seasons Greetings Letter (USA). Her haiku received several high prizes and commendations on international haiku contests and has been published in the anthologies worldwide
