Silvija Butkovic was born on December 6, 1964. in Osijek. She graduated from Commercial School in Slavonski Brod, lives and works in Djakovo. Silvija is an amateur art photographer, held several common and independent photography and haiga exhibitions, received several prizes in Croatia and abroad.
She is a journalist and publishes poetry, short stories and haiku She takes part in meeetings of the poets in Croatia, her haiku being published in the haiku miscelanies and literature journals. So far she published a book of poetry Dotaknuta snom (Touched by the dream) in 2004 and a book with haiku/haigas Oslobodjena kap/A released drop/La goccia Assolta in English, Italian and Croatian, in Djakovo, 2007. Her haigas may be seen on www.worldhaiku.net/haiga, being highly prized, she was given a title Master of Haiga.

Lokva do lokve
U starim cipelama
Koraca starac

Pod starim mostom
huk sove preplasio
lutalicu.

U koritu
nabujale rijeke
sjena oblaka.

Proljetno jutro.
U bojama vrta
nepocesljan tulipan.

Vlazno staklo,
uz rub kapi
zaustavljen prst.

U kisnom jutru
trenutak postojanja.
Oslobodjena kap.

Prema pucini
na bijelim jedrima
putuje bura.

Mokre ulice
osusene osmijehom
jutarnjeg sunca.

Jutros iznikla
iz sjemenke zivota
nada za sutra.

Jutro u magli
izmedju crnih brazdi
slavonske zemlje.

Plash by plash
The old man treads
In the worn-out shoes

Under the old bridge
ow's hoot startled
the wanderer.

In the bed
of mottled river
shadow of a cloud.

Spring morning.
In the colours of garden
an uncombed tulip.

A wet glass,
by the edge of drops
stopped finger.

In the rainy morning
a moment of existence.
A released drop.

Towards deep sea
on the white sails
travels the Nort Wind.

Wet streets
dried by the smile
of the morning sunshine.

At dawn
from a seed sprouts up
tomorrow's hope.

Morning in the fog
amidst black furrows
of Slavonian soil.
