He has published several books of poems and essays in the United States, Mexico and Spain. Poetry: Manas de la poesia (1981), El pajaro tras la flecha (1988), Fosa comun (1996), Escrito para borrar (1997), La noche (2003), Casa de todos (2005), La noche y los suyos (2005). Essays: Elogio del garabato (1994), Cuerpos en bandeja (1998), Mi vida con los delfines (1996), Amigo enigma (2000). He has also published two anthologies: Tallar en nubes (1999), a collection of notes taken from Jose Marti�Ls "Notebooks" and Concierto en La Habana, texts by Juan Ramon Jimenez, Garcia Lorca, Luis Cernuda, Thomas Merton, Wallace Stevens, Ernest Hemingway and some of Cuba�Ls most respected writers, inspired by the island�Ls capital. His work has been celebrated by the late Mexican poet Octavio Paz, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1990, and some of Cuba�Ls foremost poets. His poems immediately impressed me for their inventiveness, their freshness, their effrontery and rigor", wrote Paz. They have been written with grace but also with an explosive that blows all metaphors into smithereens in full flight", while standing as "proof that the Spanish language still knows how to dance and sing". Gonzalez Esteva�Ls intense and long dedication to projects that enhance a better appreciation of Cuban culture has made him well known to his fellow countrymen. He has a vast experience as author of numerous and original scripts for radio and stage, and as producer of recitals of Cuban music. His literary achievements were celebrated by the Miami Book Fair International in 1999. Hoja de viaje, Gonzalez Esteva�Ls Spanish versions of haiku by master Japanese poet Kobayashi Issa, was published in Spain in 2004. At the present, he is working on a new book of versions of Basho, Buson, Shiki and other master Japanese poets.
